We stopped by the Los Angeles Zoo on the spur of the moment on our way home from Disneyland in March of 2008. It is located on Interstate 5 north of Los Angeles in Griffith Park. This is an extensive zoo and has hills so be prepared with comfy shoes and a stroller if you have little ones. My favorite was the okapi and the giraffe that had heart shaped spots!
